This painting is a reflection of one of the most moving experiences of my life — visiting the Sheldrick Wildlife Trust’s Umani Springs Reintegration Unit in Kenya. The serenity of that lush, wild sanctuary, the presence of the elephants, and the sparkling waters of the springs stirred something profound within me.
My love for the African landscape is well-documented — its textures, soul, and resilience — always fuels my work. But at Umani Springs, that connection felt even more profound. Through layers of summery tones, flowing forms, and abstracted light, I found dancing reflections of happy sunshine and glorious little reminders of all things living in the veld. It embodies everything I need to renew my soul—even my favourite waterlily.
