It all begins with the paint colour “Green Gold”, a powerful golden-green pigment I return to again and again. There’s a calmness it brings when I paint, a quiet strength that flows through every brushstroke. The colour feels alive — radiant, grounded, eternal — like the African earth itself.
My love for the landscape runs deep. The acacia trees and rolling green hills of my native KwaZulu-Natal, the luminous light that settles after summer rain, all of it feeds my soul and my art. This painting was created more than twenty years ago from the edge of my studio, open to a vast, endless vista, where the land seemed to breathe in shades of green and gold, and the distance was filled with Acacia trees.
