A Dog’s Life was the only painting I painted during the pandemic. It took me 8 weeks. But once the painting was done, I thought about the title a lot and realised we all refer to the phrase “a dog’s life”—when we associate hardship, but here, it’s reimagined through a more whimsical lens. In this world, the dog truly has comfort, warmth, and simple joy. Soft pastel colours wash over the canvas, creating a gentle, dreamlike atmosphere that speaks to a life of quiet luxury and contentment. It’s a playful reminder that sometimes, a “dog’s life” might be exactly what we’re all after. And that was all I could dream about during that crazy time!
